? Hypo while not on insulin?

Ember’s last shot was saturday at 4pm, and her numbers have been consistently under 150. Normally, they have been above 70-80, but today I noticed she is dropping below 70. Since she’s not had insulin, can she still hypo? Or is this still in the range of normal bg?

Yes, the dark green numbers are in the normal range-- some cats even drop into light greens with no outside insulin.

Caveat: I am not really familiar with how Cushing's works, or the medication in your signature (Trilostane), I am just speaking generally.

For many of our Libre members, they find that the Libre can show lower numbers than a hand held meter will show, meaning she might be higher with a blood glucose test. Having said that, I've tested a few non diabetic cats in the 49-53 range.

Looks like the Trilostane is working. :). How is she feeling/doing other than her numbers?

Thanks; I did check with the relion (first successful test) and she was 104 when the libre read 88, so probably all good.

The vet was saying that they sugar cats when they hit 60, even if they dont have symptoms. They’re also concerned that the trilostane is possibly over-reducing her cortisol and causing the changes in eating habits (been picky lately), and that that could also cause her bg to be low? They want to retest, which I’m fine with. They did a quick dental exam and her teeth look worse than they did a month or so ago when they looked (I was concerned about tooth pain since she was having an aversion to pate textures), but they dont think its related. We do have her scheduled for a cleaning and exam just in case (plan to do bloodwork and check with the internist when they are back in office next week), but im worried - fasting and her do not mix, and have caused pancreatitis flareups in the past, plus anesthesia seems like a lot of stress for my old gal.

otherwise, shes doing well! Pretty normal, probably glad she hasnt been poked with a needle twice a day since saturday (not saying the R word yet, just in case, but crossing all my digits)

I would keep a record of how much Ember is eating. Less food may drop her numbers a bit. You could either feed her more often or use a slightly higher carb food if you think her numbers are running lower than you'd like due to the info from your vet regarding her cortisol.

she's been eating at least 3 cans of Fancy Feast per day (it's been the lower calorie stuff, 88 per can versus 95 which she normally gets, but she's still eating plenty).
I think there is just something wonky with the Libre honestly - it read "LO" today, so I got a ReliOn test just to check and that said 99 so

she's also stopped being as finicky about her food, and has gone back to eating her normal food and without me adding water to it to make it extra mash-y, so I have no idea what's up with that. It's possible that because I was at the end of the bottle of Trilostane, the flavoring or medical concentrations were off (either too much or too little on either) and that was causing her some issues. It could also have been that she noticed I was sneaking her gabapentin pills in her food, so she had a little bit of PTSD aversion. Or, ya know, she's a cat and she was in a mood lol. Either way, she's pretty much back to normal at this point, no idea on the cause but also not sure that running tests now that she's back to normal will really give us any info.
