Hey everyone! My kitty is currently in remission from his diabetes, but also has hyperthyroidism and was diagnosed with both at the same time in November 2022. I'm wondering if anyone has any wisdom to share regarding methimazole dosing, as it's been a struggle for us for the last year and a half to find the right dose and fine tune. We started low, went all the way up to 5mg and then back down.

You can take a look at the labs tab of his spreadsheet to see - At his last regular vet checkup in March, his T4 was finally within the normal range at 2.0. Yesterday we went to a different vet to get cleared for a dental cleaning, where they did bloodwork again, and now it is 0.6, on the same dose of 3.75mg 2x day transdermally. Ugh! It stresses me out because when he's too high/low, we have to go for monthly bloodwork at the vet which can get pricey ($200 total each time). Given that yesterday the T4 was just a little too low, but completely normal on the same dose a month ago, do you think it's safe to keep him on the same dose until his next vet checkup in 5ish months? I'm afraid that if I ask the vet for a lower dose prescription, in a month he'll be too high again, and we're back on the wheel.
