Heya. I am here asking around for a friend whose cat was just diagnosed hyper T.

She is giving him pills 2 times a day and was told this will be forever. And the cat just figured out how the pill pockets work.

I know there are other hyper T cats here, and was wondering if there is a forum here with general hyper T advice and discussions? Or maybe somewhere else?

Thanks all!

There are CURES for hyperthyroid. My own two personal kitties were hyperthyroid but are cured. First is there any other medical problems???? Liver or Kidney desease? If not then there is two ways to cure it. One is through surgery where they remove either part or all of the over active thyroid or there is something called Radio Cat which is basically a radio active iodine shot directly into the hyperthroid. Both have an extremely successful cure rate BUT the surgery to me is a bit more risky simply because anestisia is involved.

If there is kidney or liver problems involved then to not cure may actually be better because being hyper T actually helps those function better. In that case though there are other forms (easier) to medicate. There is also an ointment you put on the ear twice a day and there are treats that can be made of the medication so no pill pockets.
