My cat had blood work done and a urine sample taken from her bladder. She has not been on insulin and has been diet controlled. Her BS was 199 last week but I checked several more times and it was down to 119. 104, 108. My vet called with lab results and said her BS was 191 and she had a +2 glucose in urine. He said her elevated BS was probably due to stress but he was not sure why it was showing a +2 in her urine. He said she didn't meet the threshold for urine glucose with a blood sugar of 191. I'm thinking that her BS was higher earlier when her urine went to her bladder. Her triglycerides were 1200 and everything else looked fine. He said he found her labs puzzling and was going to consult with another vet who is an internist. Meanwhile he wants me to monitor BS and urine glucose. Because she is not on insulin he doesn't want me to do anything else right now but monitor her until he gets back to me.
She has also gained a pound back from her previous fat cat weight of 20 pounds. she was down to 15 lbs when diagnosed last May. I am wondering if a decrease in food would drop her BS back to consistent normal ranges.
I have been reading about acetyl L Carnitine and L Carnitine. Does anyone have info on these supplement and its positive effects on lowering lipids? Also, how much should I start her on if I give her this?
