Humulin n

]Just curious but i have been hearing that humulin n is rough on a cat. As well i have heard that it does well for cats too. I am wondering if this may have something to do with the sores and lesions that jinx may be having. Maybe the insulin isnt working well or is too harsh on his system. He is due for another glucose curve next month. Here is a pic of his belly. I tried the collar but he was so sad with it that i traded it in for a form fitting t shirt so he cant chew hoping that everything heals. I think he even likes the shirt. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have no clue if the Humilin N has anything to do with his sores or not, but my first sugarcat was started on N, and she didn't do well on it at all..It caused very sharp drops at onset, and only lasted her max 5hours, so she was on a constant roller coaster ride. Both of my current diabetics are/were on Lantus. One is already in remission and off insulin altogether, and one I just adopted this last Saturday has already come in dose to .5u b.i.d and is doing very well, she still has a long ways to go yet before I would consider her tightly regulated, but I think she is well on her way.

It might be something to discuss with your vet and see if switching Jinx to a gentler, longer lasting insulin would help.

It probably isn't the insulin itself that is doing it directly, but maybe feeling crappy from the rollercoaster of highs and lows is making him stressed and causing him to chew?

Are you home testing or getting set up to home test to see how the insulin is affecting him?
