Human or pet meters comparison

I'm curious after reading something from a persons post on another blog. She said she compared the Alpha track meter to the Relion meter, using the same drop of blood and she posted the results. The Alpha was 80 to 100 point higher than the Relion making me second guessing the readings I get with my human meter. I know someone here has a link on the comparison between human and pet meters but is from personally experience ? That's a huge difference .
 
Research by Dr Rand found that human glucometers read roughly 60 to 70 percent of what a pet meter gets.

You can estimate what an AlphaTrak might get by this formula: human meter reading / 0.65 (the midpoint of the 60-70%)

Plus, all over the counter meters in the USA are allowed to read +/- 20% from what a lab would get.

So the 30% to 40% is inaccurate ? Because that really big especially with trying to measure if a cats in remission.
 
You don't convert. You use the reference numbers for the meter type you are using.

And once you get up over 400, it really doesn't matter what the number is as the glucose is clearly too high. You focus on identifying what changes you need to make to resolve the high glucose.
 
For remission, using a human glucometer, you are looking for numbers from 40-130 mg/dL without insulin.
 
The accuracy of pet meters is only +/- 20%.
Human meters tend to read lower than pet meters but there is no way to convert the two meter reading because of the inaccuracy.

I just did two tests with my original AlphaTrak and my human Easy Gluco Plus meter. Both comparisons used same drop of blood from two different cats
