Hey Everyone, I need help. I have been using a Human Blood Glucose Monitor on Moses to keep track of his blood levels and his levels have been really good.... To the point I am not giving him insulin, I am worried though on how accurate the readings are.

Can anyone help me with this debate?

Hey Sharon, that SS looks excellent!

I believe that human meters read lower generally, but at lower numbers read about the same as a pet one. So yes I'd trust the numbers you are getting! :)

I use a human glucometer and don't have a problem with accuracy. My vet also said it is ok to use it. When you bring your cat to the next vet appointment, bring the meter with you so you can test the pet one and human one at the office.

Alright, Moses is going this Sunday so I will do that.

My SS chart isn't finished yet, Everything on there is what I remembered, since I am at work. When I get home I will finish putting in the rest.

I want to believe he is doing very well..might even be close to remission but I don't want to hope to soon.

There is no conversion between pet and human meter readings. What we can tell you specifically is that normal on a pet meter would be 70 to 150 while on a human meter normal would be 50 to 120. The difference between the meter readings tends to get greater the higher the BG so I personally don't see any point in doing a one time comparison at the vet especially since Moses' BG may be elevated there due to stress as it can be very misleading.
