? Howie won’t eat…still shoot?

Howie has really stopped eating his meals as he normally does since Sat. I was gone Sun afternoon through this afternoon for work and he had a critter sitter who really struggled with him not really eating. I just tested him today a +9 and he was at 79. His AMPS was 64 and he maybe nibbled on a bit if food which included some MC. He’s been on 14 units for more a week or so and I told her to give him 8 units this AM (not knowing he wasn’t really going to eat today at all with these low #s). I have an appt tomorrow with his vet.

if I can’t really get him to eat tonight or tomorrow, should I skip insulin if he stays in these lower #s?? I’m very worried about him.

When asking for dosing help, it's best to have your spreadsheet up to date. Have there been any ketones tests lately? Any idea why he's off his food? Infection/inflammation, ketones, plus not enough food might change answers on dosing. Generally, if he'll eat higher carb food, but not LC, then that's OK at this point. The best food for him is the one he'll eat.

Thanks, Wendy. I’ve been travelling for work for 3days, came home for 20 min from being on my trip to test him before leaving for my next job and quickly typed this msg out. So in 20 min didn’t have time to update the spreadsheet. No ketones tests as this all started right before I left for my work trip. I put him on 4days of cerenia to see if it was pancreatitis related but that did nothing. Hopefully my vet has some answers tomorrow. His swallowing issues are getting progressively worse but he won’t eat blended food.

@Wendy&Neko UPDATE: blood ketone test about an hour after shooting was 0.9 on my Nova Max meter (had to go buy a new battery for it first!). After about 2 hrs, he finally ate a whole meal. I tried blending it again but am not holding my breath he’ll continue eating it as he turned his nose up before at blended food! Spreadsheet finally updated. He really stopped eating and only picking at food starting July 29.
