We use Vaseline on Victor's ears to get the blood to bead up easier but even if we wipe it off afterwards, the residue still seems to catch dust and such that makes his ears dirty, so I was wondering if anyone knows of any kind of soap or anything else that would be safe to use to clean his ears?

Zymox Otic for cats ... I'm totally IN LOVE with this product. It came on the mass market for dogs, 4-5 months AFTER my dog baby Laddy died. This stuff is AWESOME. This was back in 2004 - 2007. https://www.1800petmeds.com/Zymox+Otic+Enzymatic+Solution+with+Hydrocortisone-prod10622.html and then there's the NON-hydrocortisone one - https://www.1800petmeds.com/Zymox+Otic+Enzymatic+Solution+Hydrocortisone+Free-prod338153.html - this stuff is AWESOME.

I wish it would've been available sooner, maybe my Laddy wouldn't have died/had to be put down. :( But, no..

Otherwise, if you use something sticky, use a VERY DRY paper towel to wipe it away - you can use ear cleaning wipes to clean up the residue, or - dampen a double or tripled up paper towel and wet until very damp (but not dripping) - drop 1 drop Dawn dish soap and wet again/smush until lightly soapy - then you ca wipe/clean the outside ear carefully. Just remember to rinse.

You can also try makeup remover pads, gentle ones - unsure on brands.
