How soon before dental to get bloodwork?

I am pretty sure I am going to have a dental done on Sweety. We have an appointment Monday for her usual T4 check up and I am going to bring in the list of questions I found here for dentalwork.
Question is: How long before the dental work is the bloodwork needed? The dental may not be sheduled for another week or two. Do we want to get another blood panel the day of the dental? Is that usually included in dentals or will there be another charge?
 
My vet has always done bloodwork a few days prior to the dental. He does a consult first where he checks the teeth to see what needs to be done and does the bloodowork. I think it would be ok to do bloodwork first and not have the dental for another week or so.

Charges depends on your vet. For me, the dental consult and the bloodwork is one bill. The dental itself and the little things involved (anesthesia, bg monitoring, etc) are a separate bill.
 
The vets that I know want the BW to be within two weeks of the scheduled dental. Usually the BW is not included in the dental cost/estimate since except in an emergency, there is a vet visit prior to the actual dental.
 
I go to an AAHA accredited clinic. They require bloodwork done the day of the dental, include it in the dental package cost and will not allow use of prior bloodwork to determine if the dental is safe to perform. My vet explained that the cat's health can change quickly, kidney values, etc, as to why they need bloodwork that day, so it seems somewhat irresponsible for a vet to rely on 2 week old bloodwork and then perform a dental on a cat with compromised health (tooth issues can compromise health and apparently this cat is hyper-T as well).

Why not wait for the T4 check until the dental day? That way they can draw enough blood for both.
 
my vet does exam ,blood work and any updated shots needed and dental same day.My cats do not get yearly shots and he refuses to treat unless updated. so i have no choice in that option.
 
My vet office is ok with bloodwork taken within the month. If they had an inhouse lab that could do full blood panels same day, that would be fine but until recently Antech needed 1-2 days to give my vet bloodwork results, here where I am. Besides, sometimes I need to put another paycheck between exam bloodwork etc, and dental. :o

I think I would want the bloodwork to be the same day. Our vet's office does the BW inoffice so we wouldn't have to wait. I agree, the health can change and I wouldn't want to be sorry, if you know what I mean...
Thanks for the suggestion to get her T4 checked the day of the dental - good idea!
