Wow! What excellent progress! No insulin since the morning of March 17? Don't worry about low bg if he hasn't received insulin in days. I'd expect him to be hungry though.
Hello everyon.. This is Julius' dad.. Ive been taking care of him for about a week now and I have'nt had to give him any insulin!
His numbers have been pretty low for the most part, though. most readings have been below 50 and in the morning he is between 26 and 37. i called the vet and he said to put some mashed potato flakes in his food, As Tiffany and I thought he needs some carbs. Has anyone else tried this? It has brought his readings up a little which is nice. I figure it is a good way to get Carbs. thanks to everyone for your support... Good luck to you! - John :RAHCAT
Hey Julius' Dad. Welcome to our group. It sounds like Julius is doing great without insulin. Don't know about mashed potatoes. Maybe someone else will.
if he is naturally this low without insulin, it should be OK but if worried why not just feed a little higher carb food. unless there is some underlying condition, a cat cannot hypo if not on insulin
