My cats has start eating a lot of raw meat in the past few days. My problem is I do not know if I should leave the raw meat outside at midnight. I afraid the growth of bacteria can cause my four cats to be sick. However, I think from a evolutionary perspective cats should have the ability to determine if the meat edible. Any idea?

I almost forget to mention, my cats are 14 years old and one of them has stage 2 CKD (but she looks fine now), is that a important factor to consider?

Most raw foods say to only leave it out for 20 minutes, but you're entirely right in your observations about cats.

Cats in the wild will continue to eat on the same carcass for days. Their stomach acid is much stronger than human's, as well as they move food through a lot faster.

Cats smell every bite before eating it. If it's spoiled, they won't eat it. That's why it's hard to poison a cat.
