Hi! I searched back through your posts and I don't think we ever asked your name. We know Sneakers well.

I was looking at your spreadsheet, wondering how you guys are doing. (We would love to have you post daily and let us know how things are going.) I was concerned to see some higher numbers and possible ketones. One thing I did notice in your food notes is that she is getting milk twice daily and finishing off people food. I know it seems unkind not to share, but even a few bites of high carb food and milk can change your numbers drastically. And mess up your thinking about possible dose changes. If food has changed the numbers upward, not lack of insulin, then raising won't help.

Please let us know how you and Sneakers are doing. :-D

Thanks for posting this Sue, I've been wondering how Sneakers was doing too.

I've been fretting about the ketones mostly.

Harley's favorite treat was coffee creamer. After he bacame diabetic I felt so bad about all the poking and diet change that one time when he was begging for his treat I caved in and gave him a few drops and his next bg test was over 400  so that had to be the last time he got his favorite treat. We were able to find a low carb treat that he liked almost as much.

Anyway don't be a stranger. Come and join in the fun

Sneakers is doing okay- yes, some high numbers... But ! I... must... resist... the... whining! no more :!: I now take my plate straight to the sink so it is not left alone with her sensitive nose and quick lick tongue. But I think that is why her numbers have been off- and will wait a couple days or three to get her steady as she tends to hold those carbs.

I've been having to do homework late and that leaves me tired in the mornings and finishing a 400 page book for review on Tuesday. I am doing good to get her levels on the board (finally expanded to include a food and pm note columns). I can get on at lunch and look over the posts but that is about it. This coming week should be better but i got a lot of sewing projects to catch up on... they help me pay for my kitty's habit  . I've got 6 pillow covers, 2 pillow cases, two shirts, and one guy called wants me to redo his curtains in his camper. Keeps me busy but I look at all that and think "That's my next bottle of insulin, those are syringes, that item there will by some test strips."

Other updates... When I get out the little blag bag she gets onto her red cushion and lets me poke her ear- it pretty good at this. Still haven't found a treat for her yet... I wrote the list but forgot to take it with me last night. I took my shortened version of Binkey's list but couldn't find that one. Bought Friskies this time instead of Fancy Feast and will see how that goes on her diet (another reason her numbers might be different). And she is okay with the shots- I think earlier ones I might have done into fat or muscle as she objected to those but doesn't much anymore... even when I don't get a fur shot in.

Ketones- Still bearing trace on the ketones. If I can't catch her in the box one day I test her blood.

No real chance of doing a curve this weekend- may try for a nadir tomorrow, but this weekend is packed. I have company in 45 minutes and just got home so thought I would sit for a bit with a cup of tea.

What a good report, Heather. Sounds like you are both settling into the sugar dance. Glad you will be watching the extra carbs. I hope eliminating them makes a difference.

Wonderful that you can supplement with sewing and help pay for her sugar supplies.

Just drop in when you can - a sentence or two to let us know how things are going for both of you. We consider you a part of the PZI family and we like hearing from the relatives. :-D

until she started this craziness I was going to ask if I should now increase her to 2.25 as her numbers were still up. I think I will wait until she settles. She's got until tomorrow as I stopped the extras on Thursday.

And Monday or Tuesday we might get bad weather and have to be home for a few days- those will be good days to do a curve when I can actually be home ALL DAY LONG :!:

Curves are always good. And snow days, even better! In Colorado today the high was 19 and it has been snowing all day. It was a great day to veg by the fire. Yes, I would wait on the increase.

Good to hear from you!

It is cold in NC today also. It is expected to get down to 23 tonight and that is COLD, for the area of the state that I live in...but, NO snow!!!

We've had weird weather this winter- last week it was highs in the low 70's, lows in the 30's- two days apart.

We never really know what will happen- we just say that it is Arkansas weather and suffer through it :? .

It is rare to get a snow day- usually icy days are what we suffer through.

Good to hear from you. Glad the ketones are trace.

I'm glad you are going to wait to increase until after removing the contraban, her bg's can drop dramatically when you do that.

That's so cute that she gets on her red cushion for testing, at least that is going well.

I'm glad you have a few days off coming up, that is always something to look forward to.

Come back when you can, we like updates.
