I'd like to share how I get a urine sample for a dipstick to check for glucose and ketones. It may not work for every cat but it's simple to try. Since Oliver is not regulated yet and had a UTI he was urinating outside of the regular litterbox. I added another box with just a puppy pad on a recommendation from a friend and it works perfectly. He has no problems using this set up. My friend (who runs a cat rescue) said many of her cats prefer to use the pad. On days I want to collect a sample I just fold the pad over to encourage extra urine to flow into the open box and Voila! I have a urine sample. :)
