How does one go about shooting one drop of Lantus?

I am going to shoot one drop tonight. How do I do that?? LOL!

For Kazi I draw up 1 unit - that way I can work out the air bubbles. Once I've worked them out I push down to the baseline and then push out my last drop to see how big it is. I pull in/push out until I get to my 'drop'. Very much something you just have to eyeball I think. I would pull up the dose you have been at for comparison.

Are you shooting .1u or 1 drop? I ask because from .25 one usually goes to .1u, and with Muffin, I've been at .1u and then also just a drop, so they are 2 different doses to us. For .1u, and it really varies depending on what syringe you are using, but I had just a sliver of daylight between the bottom of the 0 line and the top of the plunger. It just takes practice, drawing up that amt and squirting it onto waxed paper (using a colored liquid and an old syringe is helpful) to see if you are getting the amt you want, and then practice being consistent with it. For me, it was actually easier to draw both .1u and 1 drop than drawing .25u.

Thanks for the advice. Dr. Pierson said one drop. I will practice with colored water right now! Thanks!!! I'm using BD 1/3cc syringes with half marks.

Thanks! I made up some blue colored water and practiced. I think I have it! Now just cross your fingers for Sue that the one drop is enough!!!!!

To clarify - Jenny, I did not mean to make you crazy by saying "one drop" since I don't tend to get that anal about these things. My goal is to not drive my clients nuts.

Originally, I had typed "0.1" in one email but then when stuck typing on my iPad I said "since you will only be shooting a drop tonight.....".

I really did not mean that to be taken literally....although 0.1 unit is about 1 drop. At this level, it is splitting hairs so don't drive yourself nuts. I don't like to see people get crazy when trying to manage this disease.
