? How does food affect BG?

I’ve been under the impression that food increases blood glucose. But the last few days I’m seeing the opposite with Moe as we approach his PM shot. When I get home from work at +10, I check his glucose. He gets a little bit to eat (less than half an ounce) then no food for two hours until his PM shot. His BG actually goes DOWN between +10/snack and PMPS.
Is that typical? Would his glucose still be dropping from his AM shot?

That can indicate that his pancreas is spluttering.
Normally when a non diabetic person/cat eats, the pancreas sends out insulin so the body can use the glucose from carbs in the food, as energy and store glucose for future use. But with a diabetic the pancreas does not do this and this is why we have to give insulin.
I see you have just started with insulin again.
I would continue to offer small snacks throughout the day and night. It is easier on the pancreas.
It looks as if Moe might have a pancreas that is working a bit (if that makes sense) so keep doing what you are doing and hopefully you might be lucky enough to go OTJ again.

Two other possible explanations.
1. Moe decided to nadir late that cycle. My girl often nadired around preshot time. Bounce breaking cycles often have later nadirs.
2. Moe did a Lantus/Basaglar double dip. That is where the cat's blood sugar does a second small curve down at the end of the cycle, but not as low as the longer main curve
