I upped CC's dose to 3 U as per my vet's recommendation... We haven't gotten any numbers lower than the mid 200's. How long do you stay at a dose before you decide it's time to try upping it? a week? two weeks? I have been running around like crazy doing different things during the day this past week, so I haven't had time to do a proper curve, but I'm hoping to maybe thursday or next wed.

You seem to have slowly raised the levels slowly and carefully. She is having lower numbers for preshots and midcycle but you are right, she is still too high.

It could be that the insulin may just not be working well for her and she needs another type.

Or it may be that she is resistant and needs to "break through" by slowly increasing until her numbers improve. (It looks like she has been on insulin quite awhile. If they stay in higher numbers over time, their bodies can get used to those levels)

Or it might be that she is a kitty who needs higher doses because of a high dose condition.. There is information on higher dose conditions here: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...-other-high-dose-conditions-what-we-know.375/. Do any of the symptoms sound familiar?

She started insulin on may 20th, so about 9 weeks ago. I only started home testing mid July. She was started on 1 u, then mid July moved to higher doses. I will check out that link you shared.

In an earlier thread you mentioned that you were thinking of changing to a longer lasting insulin. Have you thought any more about that?
I talked to my vet about it last week and she was hesitent to switch to a different insulin... she told me to up her dose to 3, do a curve in a week, and then we would talk. My regular vet is on vacation and won't be back until next friday. In the meantime I will gather more data so we will have a clearer picture.

The vetsulin may be getting old as you suggested on your spreadsheet since recently are are seeing little drop in BG. I would either get a new vial of Vetsulin or change insulin to a generally better type like Lantus, Levemir or ProZinc. I myself would change insulin type.

Yeah I think that's going to be my plan of action
