how do i use human glucose test for my cat

Okay so I put the lancet in the device and pushed the button (I didn't do this with Marlin yet because want to see first how everything works) and didn't see the needle come out of the lancet device. Is it easier for me to just prick him with the lancet? I watched the videos but still unsure of things.

Try it against your own finger to figure out how it works. And no, for the majority of us (but not all), using the lancet pen is much easier! At least, if you are using a good lancet device. I have the softclix pen and it is awesome.
It takes some time to get the hang of testing. Just make sure you and the cat are relaxed, that you have warmed the ear, that you have a thin sheen of vaseline on the ear to help the blood bead, and that you have some patience. And if you aren't successful and things are getting stressed, take some time off.

And don't forget the treats! Anytime you fiddle with his ears, even if you get no blood, give him a treat (lo carb of course!). Before long, he'll be chasing you down for ear testing!
I am one of the odd balls who find the lancets easier to use by hand. I massage my cat around his neck and shoulders and rub his ears. He loves it and drools vigorously. Then I poke his ear and milk a bit if necessary. After getting blood on the test strip, I use a makeup removal pad (the little oval cotton ones) and hold pressure for a few seconds.
If you have trouble, post back here. There are a million ways to do this, and someone else will have other tips.

I'm a freehander. :lol: I always found it easier just to hold the lancet and poke - the click of the device used to startle Rambo, so he would pull away at the exact wrong moment. But whatever works best for you is the way to go.
Make sure the ear is warm - bleeds much better. And please don't get discouraged if it takes a while to get the hang of it, or if you don't get enough blood at first. Be patient, reward him after every attempt, and keep practicing!
Oh- and no glucose in the urine (YAY!) simply means his BGs were below renal threshold (the level of blood glucose that is high enough for the sugar to spill into the urine) when his bladder was last filled. Blood testing is a more immediate poicture, but that is still a good sign.
