How do I figure out how much to start her at?

Ella was diagnosed Monday evening. I immediately picked up the dry food and gave her wet and she’s been in wet since then.

I can’t start her till next weekend when I can be home to monitor her. I am out of the house 12 hours a day during the week and had to go out of town today.

Ella’s numbers were dropping all the way till this morning when they started creeping up. My hope was a diet change was all she would need.

I did switch her from fancy feast poultry to the fancy feast fish…so I’m hoping that’s what the deal is but I’m thinking not :-/

So how do I determine what to start her at?

She will be on Lantus, while I am updating her chart and she is not on lantus right now I am using the +and number to show how long after the morning or evening ‘main’ bG test I tested her.

Can you add the food you are feeding to your signature and the meter you are using

Is that a human or pet meter?

I might start at half a unit. It's literally just a few drops. That's great she's had such a change just from the diet change.

Thanks. I just wasn’t sure if .5 was still a good starting dose or if she needed less. BUT her numbers are climbing so Im thinking .5

When I try to add any more info to my signature I get an error

Try tapping on your name up top the tap on signature, add the food and meter you are using then tap save, see if that works,let me know if that works

Okay, think I got it working. It just won’t let me add as much as everyone else.

Great ! When you do start lantus you can just go back in and delete (haven't started yet) and then just add the date you start, good luck

Edit, are you feeding Fancy Feast or Friskies only because I see Fancy Feast in your post up top if you want to make it shorter you can just put Friskies wet
Try not and feed too much fish flavors because of mercury, they suggest feeding it like one a week

I bought Friskies and they’ve been on that for 2 feedings now. They were on fancy feast, and I still have some fancy feast seafood left. But I’m going to stick with Friskies for now.

I’d start with .50. Will you be able to monitor the first couple of days? Some react in a big way to the first dishes while others take the the 5-7 days for the depot to build. Since you stopped feeding all dry food that will have an effect on the bg too.

It’s only necessary the first few cycles in case there’s a strong response. It doesn’t always happen. I’d read the instructions for SLGS. It sounds like a good method to start.
