Are bounces more common in the beginning when you're increasing the dose, or are they just common in general? Is there anything I can do to prevent more bounces in the future?
Probably more common in the higher numbers as you are trying to find the ideal dose and get the overall numbers down, but anytime they drop more than 50% they may bounce. Some are more bouncy then others.
We weren't bouncy in the beginning, then the little fellow got sick. Now he wont come off the trampoline!! As I've been reminded, don't focus so much on the high PS numbers but instead focus on the mid cycle numbers. The bounces *should* flatten out over time once kitty learns that those lower numbers are safe.
My guy is a champion bouncer. I've learned to evaluate a dose by looking at mid cycle numbers rather than high pre shot numbers or high flat BGs on a day wasted in bouncing. It can make it hard to know what a good dose is but over time you'll get more used to your kitty's bounce patterns, how long they last, etc.
I've had more bounces then I care for with my cloud baby but every cat is different. I think some are even more bouncy then mine!! I it's just thestruggle of finding that magic dose. If you watch mid cycle numbers and pmps and amps you should have a basic grounds to know what to give him but I feel I've learned from people here is consistent dosing numbers help a bounce smooth out. ( someone correct me if I'm wrong )
Chuck loves to bounce too. His bounces were worse on ProZinc than they are on lantus. I've seen him go up 300 points in a couple hours!
He is starting to bounce less and bounce lower. It will be 1 year on insulin on September 7th. We are finally getting him into regulation numbers.
