I have been syringe feeding him the past few days, he seems to be getting worse.

Just now, he threw up some watery green dark liquid that really smelled like poop!!!!!! nailbite_smile nailbite_smile

What is that?

Anyone have any ideas? I don't know what is going on but I am sure this is not good. He has been having issues with constipation for about the last couple months and I have been giving him Miralax twice a day and it has been helping.

Any ideas? please help

Here is my previous post:

Re: Hossie not doing well, please help

I have no idea what that is, but it really does sound like it is time for a vet visit. I'd be waiting on their doorstep for them to open tomorrow am.

Hope your Hossie feels better soon!!!!

Re: Hossie not doing well, please help

I would definitely get an ultrasound done on Hossie. I don't like green vomit.......not normal coloring. Prayers coming for you beautiful gray boy.

Re: Hossie not doing well, please help

He is just sitting on the dresser, actually looking relieved.

I should maybe try and syringe him some food? I tried to give him some water, but he looked at it for awhile and then turned his head

Re: Hossie not doing well, please help***UPDATE***

Hossie did a small poop this morning, still not eating, but syringing him food. He did drink water yesterday and today and is peeing ok.

My DH is going to pick up some more A/D, I have tried many foods over the weekend and nothing is syringing well enough to get into him.

Will see how he does throughout the day and will speak with vet. Just when I think he is ready, and it is time to call the vet.............he gets up and goes poo. the 29th will be one year since his daddy Butchie left me........... :YMSIGH:

I don't know, he does not seem all that happy, but he does seem content.

Re: Hossie not doing well, please help

Are you watering down the A/D to syringe feed? If so, ask if your vet has Clinicare to sell you. It is used for tube feeding and has everything a kitty could need and you would thin down the A/D with that instead of water.

Re: Hossie not doing well, please help

No, the A/D works fine. I ran out Saturday and my DH didn't tell me. So, I was trying regular foods over the weekend and nothing was working well. I do still have Clinicare and was also using that.

Thanks

Re: Hossie not doing well, please help

Does anyone know if I can use sub-Q fluids that I have had for awhile? I think I need to give some to Hossie tonight because he seems very, very dehydrated and seems uncomfortable???

Are the fluids opened already ?

How long have they been opened....how have they been stored.

Is there any discoloration or 'floaties'.

If un-opened....what is the expiration date on the bag.

it was opened but never took the clean needle off - stored in my closet with clean needle

clear, no floaties

exp date on bag is march 2011

I would take the chance and use the fluids.

I guess you mean the bag was provided with a needle already on it ?

You should have extra needles so you can use a new one for each time.

no i used it once and then put a clean needle on it and never used it after that

i do have extra needles

I think i am just going to syringe water, i also have small amt AD mixed with Clinicare to alternate with the water. Hopefully it will make him feel better through the nite. he still looks uncomfortable but he is not meowing anymore. I don't want to risk his last night making him feel worse nailbite_smile

Hopefully my head won't explode in the meantime. :(

I probably wouldn't use the fluids if over a week, or two max.

I also, in my personal opinion, would not syringe water apart from the water in the food. Are you keeping track of how much you are feeding over the course of the day?

I read your other post. Does the vet think he is this sick because he has an infection?

I would take in back in for a follow-up visit asap.

Best,
Pam

Stop putting it off - get him to the vet!!!! It could be organ shutdown! I hope for the best but.... Good luck.

I lost track of Hossie's on-going fight...someone update me. I sure hope no one else puts off going to the vet. Mine told me off when I put off getting Mugsy there once (he had a shattered and infected leg) and told me not to do it again we could always work something out about paying him.
