I just wanted to post this to encourage anyone who has a baby recently diagnosed. Truffles is a half Norwegian Forest Cat who was diagnosed a few months ago. He has always been a “round” cat and he suddenly started to lose weight, drink loads and pee on the dog bed, rugs and bath mats. When the vet tested him his BG was over 500. With the help of this forum and my vet we are, I think, getting there. The biggest change of all is I have my old Champagne Truffles back. He is happy, chatty, keeping himself clean and not peeing where he shouldn’t.
Truffles is a beauty, and I'm so glad to hear he's getting back to his old self. He's very lucky to have you to take care of him. It is nice that you take time to encourage new members. It's important to see that there is a "beyond" the initial impact of diagnosis and learning the sugar dance.
He's a very handsome kitty! Posts like yours are very encouraging to people who arrive here frightened and stressed about what the future holds. Thank you for doing this!
Truffles says thanks for the kind words. He’s proud of his curves . He was from an accidental escape of my breeding queen and I had to breathe life in to his little body when he was born.
