I found what seems to be a decent economic low carb food option at Food Lion. The brand is Home 360 Pet and I bought a 12 can pack for $4.99 (3 oz cans). Although the food does contain meat by-products and some additives, the #1 ingredient for each of the 3 varieties in the pack is the actual meat. Plus, no wheat, rice, soy, corn, or veggie products added. Each cans is about 5% kcal from carbs based on the nutrition info on the label. From everything I've read this seems to be a good choice for a low priced food. If I am way off base, please let me know so that I don't buy any more!

I hope this can help anyone in the NC area on a budget. Also, I did a quick search online and I think this brand is available at other stores, so it may be available outside of NC.

Hannaford Supermarket also sells this brand. At about $0.40 for a 3 oz can, it's easy on the budget.

You can't use the info from the label to calculate exact nutritional content. Guranteed minimum/maximm numbers are pretty useless :-Q Here's some info why: http://binkyspage.tripod.com/foodfaq.html You need to call the company and ask for "as fed" values and then from those values, calculate out the exact nutritional content.
