I do use the Relion Prime. Buddy is on lantus 2u. His PS has been lately in the 200-350ish. On the Relion Prime any # over 600 reads HI. With that said, he read HI. Was going to test again, but he was a hand full getting the first one. And him getting all excited, I decided to just give a little treat. Following dinner. And his shot. Plan on working to get a SS going. I live in a area with lousy reception.

Try and get some mid cycle tests in say at +4 and + 6 to see if Buddy is dropping low and then bouncing up high at the next Preshot. A SS will help a lot.
Are you giving him s small low carb treat while or after you test to distract him?

Bron and Sheba. Thanks for the advice. I do give him his favorite high protein treats after. But will try to give it to him to distract him from the testing. We are only a couple weeks in this. At first it didn't seem to bother him to much. But now it's a struggle. Something will have to overcome. It has to be done.

Are you always doing it in the same spot? Always give him a treat after every test even failed ones.
I used to give Sheba some chicken broth in a saucer as I was testing to distract her in the early days. Make sure it is salt free and has nothing else added though. I made my own broth.
Are you tense when testing? Maybe try humming as you do it.
It takes time for you both to settle in to it all. You are doing well!
