I don't know what is wrong with me this morning! I woke up, tested Squallie, washed litty dishes, fed everybody, gave Squall his metronidazole, and went about my business. Anybody see what's wrong with this picture? I completely forgot to give him his insulin!!! When I realized it, an hour and a half later than his usual shot-time, I ran for the refrigerator and gave him his AM shot.

His BG was 409 this AM, which surprised me; I have to wonder if this is a bounce.

I hope I haven't screwed things up, or put him at any risk, by giving his AM dose so late. I can't believe I forgot it at his regular time, I feel terrible!!! :(:(:(

He'll be fine, Lucy. Nobody's perfect. Everyone has a moment now and then.

You might put it on the line next to the shot amount. And today, realize that the nadir will be 1.5 hours later. Depending on his number tonight, you might be able to give the shot fairly close to the regular time. With Vetsulin, it doesn't have to be a firm 12/12. It'll depend on whether his number is definitely rising near shot time.

Thank you! I really appreciate your help and reassurance. I just can't believe I did that! I feel like such a bad mom! I do always try to make a note of what time I give a shot, because they aren't always exactly at the same time, every day, but I have never forgotten a shot before, and I've never given one so late.

A bad mom would have given up at diagnosis and said "I can't do this". You are NOT a bad mom!
Thank you for the support. It's just so hard not to feel like I'm letting him down! I could NEVER give up on him, he has seen me through the deepest, darkest part of my life and has always been there for me. I will always be there for him, too.

For the first time in days, Squallie is up and about, roaming the house. It's so hard for me not to follow him everywhere he goes, to make sure he's okay! I have to keep telling myself this is a good thing, not a cause for more worry. I'm so happy he's feeling better!!!

I'm so glad to hear Squallie is acting more like himself! I know what you mean about following him everywhere -- Marshmallow isn't feeling well and I was stalking her yesterday, practically watching her every move. o_O

Yes, lol, stalking, that's exactly what it is! And I know it makes Squallie nuts to have me watching his every move, he's a cat who enjoys his privacy sometimes. But it's just so darn hard not to stalk him! :)

Just wanted to say to Lucy that you're a great kitty mom!! We all have so many things to do. On top of all this I have to give Ollie his asthma inhaler puffs too and I'm always afraid I will do something out of order. Don't be hard on yourself :)

Thank you for the kind words. :)

How did your vet diagnose asthma in your kitty? Squallie had developed a slight wheeze and his old vet treated him for allergies for a couple of months, but the meds were very hard on his tummy. Now he wheezes fairly heavily all the time, and I wondered if maybe he had asthma, but my old vet always blows off my ideas.
