does anyone know of a good high calorie cat for my Bellas sister who has hyperthyroidism, she is down to 6lbs, trying to get right dose of meds in her, she went to dr last sat for 1 month thyroid test and had lost another lb. they doubled her dose, her thyroid number was 9.9 it was so high first time it wouldn’t even register, so I was thinking maybe a high calorie food, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think some of the prescription recovery foods are high calorie. The kitten foods might be as well.

Hi Jamie.. I was wondering if you were washing the ear before applying the medication. It’s best to rotate & apply med to opposite of the cleaning ear. Some people use warm water & every few days use a small amount of witchazel. If there is a buildup of medication, they don’t absorb the dose as well. So clean an ear, apply meds to other ear & rotate back & forth each day. Lizzie was hypo & couldn’t use the gel because of sensitivity. Her ears became really sore & I had to switch to the pills. You may already do this but thought I’d mention it.
Good luck with your babe!

Hey Becky!
Yes I clean them every am and pm, right now she is getting in both ears 2x a day till I run out of what I have then we can go back to 1x a day in each ear, I got wipes for her ears

I did try the pills and by day 3 she was soooooooo sick puking andpooping everywhere, I really didn’t think she was gonna be alive when I got home, I had to give her sub q fluids and broth for a cpl days

Oh I remember, that was awful! Poor baby & you too!
Well I think this is making her sick the double dose, she puked yesterday and again this am, I think it’s just to much for her, she only weighs 6lbs, I’m gonna call doc today but there is nothing else they said they can give her

Oh no... the surgery or radiate the thyroid... I know that’s expensive. I’m sorry you are having such trouble. Little Lizzie was just 6 lbs. too but regulated. Keep us posted & bless you sweetheart.
