Kitty has had high numbers today. The pre shot will be at 2:30am. Since he is still high at +10 I am wondering if I gave a fur shot? I have been working on the computer for hours so that I can get a spreadsheet going and giving eye drops round the clock. Not even sure what to do with these numbers. Maybe Kitty and I need to rest for now. Ceecee

Hi CeeCee...you could have given a furr shot or kitty could just be having a high cycle.
One thing that helps me is that I tent the skin & keep my index finger right at the base of the needle or kind of on the needle itself...when the needle goes in I kind of slide my finger back until the needle is in & then push the insulin in with the palm of my hand.

If it was a furr shot it was just one cycle & there is another cycle to follow. ;-)

Hi Jenn, we shall see. This amps +16 413. I gave .5U and fed him. And eye drops.... Now back to computer and ss work. I would love to help Kitty feel better soon. New day! Ceecee

Looks like you are close with the ss. In front of the http, you need [url=

Looks like the plan should be to try to catch him before he gets high - just above 200 - and shoot. I know that's hard because there is no schedule but the insulin is lasting longer than 12 hours (which is good but makes your life more complicated)

Thanks Sue. I can test more today. I need all the guidance I can get right now, to help me "see" what to do for him!

Your ss works fine, but I do wish you had a few of the last week's numbers. Lokking at today's numbers, we can't tell that he has had lots of long cycles on .5. That's important history.

That is what I was thinking Sue. That is why I sent you this pm:

I need to step away for a bit. I am used to logging by time. Right now he is +4 183 with a .5 u shot, bg was 413 this amps, so at least HE is doing better. :? Unless that drop is too fast, gonna feed him.

It was back up at at 11:40 and he ate. At 12:30 +6 274.

Thanks for the encouragement! Here are more numbers:
2:30pm +8 353
4:30pm +10 425
pmps6:30pm +12 375 .5u fed
You think that the .5u will be okay with food now and then food at bedtime? Hoping that his #'s get better soon. He already can't feel too great with his plastic collar around his neck! I will check his bg again soon. Back to work....
Ceecee

I like the .5 he is really bouncing around but he does really react to a small dose. I'd continue with it tonight and see what happens tomorrow.

The numbers are certainly strange. Up from preshot of 375 to +2 of 436. Definitely could be a food spike but not a pattern we saw before. This am he went down over 50% at +4. Wonder what he'll do tonight. I'd keep testing and see what kind of patterns we see repeated. The 400s are difficult but the insulin is bringing the numbers down. I know it's hard but I keep collecting the data .

This is strange. He has been getting pzi for years and these high numbers are unusual for him. We used a tighter regulation, not perfect, but at least more comfortable numbers.

How's his behavior? Is he less active? Does he seem uncomfortable or in pain? Pancreatitis can elevate the glucose, as can infections.

He does seem uncomfortable, he has a cone around his head because he had eye surgery on both eyes a week ago tomorrow. He was looked at on thurs. and we go back in the morning. I am giving him antibiotic eye drops along with 5 other types of eye drops. No regular vet right now, we are on our own.

When you're ready to look for a regular vet, there are vet interview topics linked in my signature.
