Hello everyone.
My cat was diagnosed in September 2018, in February 2020 he went into remission, until in mid-October 2020, a swollen gums and a shot of prednisone brought him out of remission and he returned to diabetes. We restart the insulin shots (Lantus, 1 unit in the morning and 1 unit at night) and since then we have dealt with very high numbers, between 400 and 500. We have ruled out infections, there is no UTI, there are no dental problems, he has history of acute pancreatitis however on US there are no problems with the pancreas. He was hospitalized for two days in which they did all the laboratory tests and the US, he was with fluids, but when he returned home, the bg tests are still very high. We use a human meter (Accu Check). At the vet we rule out ketones with laboratory analysis and at home we monitor with urine strips and it comes out negative for ketones. He has a good appetite, he has not stopped eating, but in the morning and at night he drinks too much water and urinates too much. His fructosamine was 680. In bg tests, we have noticed that the nadir is higher than the pre-shot number. If it were a bounce, it would go from high numbers to very low numbers, wouldn't it? However he stays high all the time (you can see the bg numbers in the spreadsheet): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Paz6Nz0pTVhUIyIWZnZIy4VgSL9rEPb8m6D8ZIsdvgg/edit?usp=sharing
We also bought a new insulin in case the one we had in use and was refrigerated during the remission had lost its effectiveness.
So we don't know what may be happening. Could it be that he is insulin resistant? Is it convenient to increase the dose? I appreciate in advance all the help you can give me
