This morning when I woke up and notice that some how some way Mr. Butts got a bag of his Blue Buffalo treats and ate the entire bag. I tested his BG and the meter read HI. I gave him a can of his food (normally he gets 1.5 cans) and gave him 3 units of Prozinc (usually gets 2.5 but vet said if he reads high to adjust to 3) He was tested and given insulin at 6AM and then I tested him again at 8AM and the meter is still reading HI. I know it was the bag of treats did this. Should I ride it out or any suggestions would be more than appreciated.

Yeah well that'll do it for sure. I think you just have to ride this one out. Hold on for more replies. Hope Mt Butts doesnt get a tummy ache. :p Lil stinker

Agree with Jeanne, you just have to ride it out. I wouldn't be increasing insulin just because his reading is HI though - dosage is based on how low the dose takes the cat, not how high the cat currently is.

Just an update on Mr Butts the treat thief. At 10 AM he was down to 499 still hi but at least it was a number reading and not just HI. I didn't have his treats behind lock and key but where I had them I sure never thought he would find them, let alone rip the bag apart like a mountain lion and eat them all. This is the first treats I have even bought since we found out he was diabetic. GEEEEZE I guess I should have put them in my safe LOL. Thanks guys
