Hello all!!

I am new to the FDMB but I took care of my aunt's seven cats (three of which had diabetes) for many, many years. I gave them insulin every day. Glad to see there is a place where we can share stories and tips about our little angels!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you got a current diabetic, or are they all civilians? (Non_diabetics, aka civvies).

Here's some of what we encourage:
- Gentle, long-acting insulin such as ProZinc, Lantus, PZI, or Levemir.

- Low carb, canned or raw, over the counter food - see Cat Info for why, plus an extensive food list for many canned North America/USA foods.

- Home glucose testing using an inexpensive human glucometer such as the WalMart ReliOn Confirm/Confirm Micro aka the Arkray USA Glucocard 01/01 Mini from American Diabetes Warehouse.

- Tracking the glucose tests in an online shared grid using Google Docs so others can see and give you feedback. Instructions are here

thanks all, it means a lot to be welcomed to a forum that understands cats & their various cases of diabetes
