Hi All,

It's been a tough year in our household regarding cat health. In July Sherlock (12 year old male) was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was put on felimazole. Then Gizmo was diagnosed with diabetes in October, and this morning Cephas (9 year old male) was also diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was also put on felimazole. I have a few questions, which even though isn't related to diabetes that someone here might know about:

1) I've been feeding Hill's Science Diet 7+ Dry cat food for Sherlock and Cephas. I am looking for ideas of what else might be better for them.
2) I've got 2 other civvie cats (Chakra 5 year old female and Shoni 1.5 year old female) who eat Hill's Science Diet 1-6 dry cat food. Is there a better food for them?
3) This website is AMAZING! Does anyone know of something similar for hyperthyroidism? Sherlock appears to be doing very well with the felimazole, and it isn't nearly as nerve wracking to give him his pill once a day, but I'd like to learn more so that my cats can have a better quality of life.

Thanks in advance!

Hyperthyroid is so easy to treat, and you can miss a dose of meds once in a while with no drama. I have one cat who had radioactive iodine treatment and doesn't need any more treatment, and a diabetic cat who takes a small dose of thyroid med twice a day. If you don't like giving pills, you can have it compounded at Roadrunner or a local compounding pharmacy with flavor and put it on their wet food.
