This was part of my post last night -

"We went ahead with the .8u at 2:30p - you can see his +4 was (146); +6 (160) and +9 (166), keep having more questions than answers -

- Why was +4 lower and was it the nadir? If so, why so early?
- I know ECID and every day is different, but sometimes half of the day way high and half the day moderate numbers (Is there anything we did/can do to even those out?)?

:YMSIGH:

His numbers have been higher and we were thinking of a slight increase, but with this afternoon/evenings numbers should we stick to the .8u for a little longer and see? Thoughts??"

This morning: Took a nap before shot time and overslept, so AMPS was 3 hours late, but BG was 2nd lowest since changing to .8u dose. Is that good or bad (or who knows if it even means anything...)?

Thanks for listening, for taking a look at his numbers and for any thoughts you might have.

Good morning!

The nadir is considered the lowest point in the cycle. You were correct when you said ECID. Some cats hit nadir earlier and others, later. As you start tracking #'s you will learn your cat's pattern and see the trends, from then you will know when their particular nadir tends to be. Sometimes, if you give a dose too high the duration of the insulin may last longer, you may then see your tabby that had nadirs around +6, +7 hit a nadit at +10. The same can be said in reverse but once again, as you collect more data the anomolies will pop out at you and get your attention.

I personally would stick with that .8u. If you gave.8u and you tested him at +15 (+12 + +3 hrs late) then he could have been significantly lower 3 hrs earlier. Where you probably wanted him to be.

Anyway, I'm new around these parts, like yourself, and trying to figure it all out as well.

Poopy and I have only been at this for just over a month. His nadir isn't at a set point yet either. And just when I think I've figured out the dance steps, Poopy changes the music! :-D

Your numbers are looking good with the .8u so I'd stick with it and get what numbers you can to help see the overall picture.

It's also easy for us to forget the 20% variable meters can have. We tend to look at that one number as set in concrete, when it really could be 20% higher or lower, or spot on. One number is just a part of the picture.

You're doing great! Treats all round! Low carb though. ;-)

Wonder why last night was so nice and blue? Anything different with the food or activity?

I would hold off on the increase and get some more numbers. It would be better to raise on the weekend, if you are going to, when you can monitor, anyway.

No, Sue, nothing different about food and not a lot of activity outside of some walking around and me walking him around the kitchen island before meals. I have no idea...but blue is a much prettier color than red

We'll hold the .8u and see.

Thanks!!!!
