AMPS 259 (gave breakfast), 0.25U Levemir given (Henry has always been VERY reactive to insulin, so we're starting low and gathering data)

+6 184 (gave lunch)

PMPS 319 - 0.25U Levemir, gave dinner.
+3 313. His overnight snack will roll around at 2am via a timed feeder.
Le sigh. The very handsome, very dick-ish (in a lovable way) Henry has come out of remission. He was insulin free with readings in the 70s and 80s for EIGHTEEN months!! Eighteen!! Then we had two things happen: one, he had been eating Ziwipeak Lamb since just before going into remission. In fact, I switched him to the Ziwipeak Lamb at the same time as I started him on 6 weeks of 2X daily metronidazole, all on the recommendation from his internal medicine specialist. Within two weeks of finishing the meds, he was in remission. Boom.
Now, some months ago Ziwipeak changed its formulation. It now includes chickpeas. Did I mention that Henry has a bunch of mystery allergies? Yeah. That. Is he allergic to chick peas? I don't know. At the same time this was going on, he also had an asthma attack (yes, he gets them - likely triggered by environmental allergies) that required an ER visit, a few albuterol administrations, and a month on Flovent once daily. Double sigh.
I've changed his diet. We've gone to a different novel single-source protein, one without other protein sources (all rabbit). He's also about four weeks into another six week course of metronidazole. But - before, he was hovering around 180s-ish. Now he's full on back into consistent, shootable numbers. So we're back to Levemir, staring slow and shooting low, with a curve through the day today.
FYI, Henry eats 4X daily, totaling about 11oz of food - he's a big cat (not fat), and he's always eaten that much.
Here's hoping I can get him into remission a *third* time!!
