Even though he has somewhat high preshots, he's still getting a 50% drop from the insulin and no scary numbers. In my mind, that's a really good thing, and I'd probably be reluctant to change. It's safe, flexible, and predictable.
I told Libby, however, that when a human finds his med isn't as effective, or has side effects, etc that makes it just not working as good as we'd like, we'd try something different. I'm usually the last one to "jump ship", but sometimes it's just the next step. Unfortunately, Grayson didn't straighten up with the threat of switching! But with the insulin resistance, we were lucky to see a 25% reduction during the cycle... usually more like 10%, so we're not looking at apples & apples.
Hope Grandma is settling in nicely. I know you've had a lot on your plate lately. Right now, while things are still a little crazy, you may want to stick with the safe/flexible/predictable option.
