Hi I am not sure what to do my cat and I traveled three hours today and he was fine in the car and in his crate when we got to my parents house he acted normal sniffing around just ran under the bed will now he's under the bed and has been under the bed and will not come out. he came out for about five minutes ate a little food went back under but now I can't get him to come out. when I pulled him out his heart was racing really fast and he ran back Under. since he only ate a very little amount of food should I give him his shot tonight at 7 PM or should I skip it and wait till tomorrow morning when I see that he's eaten more? I am going to a relatives in 30 min and will be gone approx 4 hours leaving him alone in this bedroom. I'm worried and feel bad.

If he hasn't ate much and you aren't going to be around tonight I would skip the shot. Hopefully he settles in and has a good snack soon

Thanks, that is kinda what I was thinking.
I apologize for the typos and lack of punctuation in my last post.
I was attempting to post from my phone because I could not get the internet working at my parents house.

Do I need to worry that he is hiding under the bed and wont come out and will be alone?
Or will he be ok?
Also another question; my parents keep the house rather cool. They have the heat on, they just set it at like 65. But the house is all windows and on the river, so it is cold. I wear sweats and slippers and usually am cold and this bedroom I am staying in is a bit colder and doesnt get much heat flow.
He will be ok if it's chilly in here right? That won't affect his diabetes or anything?
I have a space heater running in here now while I am home, but obviously I am not going to leave it running when I leave in 15 minutes.

Make up a blanket nest he can curl up in and slide it under the bed. This should help him stay warm.

Slid the food bowl under the bed - he feels safer there.

Test his glucose to see if you need to shoot - often, stress raises the level. If he's high (over his usual pre-shot), and not eating, you might use a half dose (what some vets say to do if fasting a cat pre-surgery)

He sounds pretty stressed by the travel - if you have a pinch of catnip, Parmesan cheese, a toy, etc, it may help him feel safer, as will leaving the door shut so he has a limited space to explore and claim as his own.

Next time you travel, pick up some Feliway/Comfort Zone to put on the towel in the carrier, and to use wherever you land.

We only drove luckily no flying.
I put my sweatshirt I wore today under the bed with him to curl up next to if he wants, that way it smells like me too...

I wil keep the door shut and everything the way it was so he is ok.
Leaving his food and a few treats out too.
Hopefully he calms down or this will be a long 3 days for me! And hIM! :)
Thanks for your help

When my cat goes to visit my parents, once a year, he used to hide under the bed all day long. And then be up all night long crawling all over me  which was okay, except for the lack of sleep for me. He would also tend to eat hungrily at night time, and not come out from under the bed during the day. I put his food bowl under the bed, as BJM suggested.
This last time, I brought his bed with me, and I put it in the clothes closet and he was happy to stay/hide in there during the day. Much easier to get him out for testing. I use Rescue Remedy for my cats when we travel. It seems to work pretty good for us.

Enjoy your evening. I'm sure he'll be fine if you left out some food and some treats for him.

What do I do if he won't eat in the morning or I can't get him out to test or shoot?
I don't wanna drag him out and stress him more... ?

Right now I just got home, when I walked in the room, I saw the treats were gone and he was meowing and came out from under the bed.
He kept looking up at the ceiling. There is a ceiling fan but it is/was not on.
I don't know if that is weirding him out or if its just the creaking of footsteps upstairs/etc.
People at my house live upstairs and are noisy so I don't understand if that is bothering him or why.
But after a min of meowing at me and looking up... he cowered back under the bed.
When he does come out, hes crawling low to the ground like hes about to pounce.
Is this normal?
Should I be worried?
What do I do?
I just don't want him to be any more uncomfortable that he has to be.

Thanks!

Wow!! So I just got his food he hadnt eaten all day... mixed in a little warm water... and slid it under the bed, and within seconds, he was eating! :)
Yeah! :)
So I will do it again the same way in the morning before shooting

THanks alot! :) :-D

Even with your cat being used to noise at your home, you're in strange surroundings. Cats are territorial and they mark their territory. There's nothing at your parents' home that's familiar. Your cat is scared so he's finding a dark place where he can stay hidden and safe. Once he starts to feel more secure, he'll come out.

It sounds like he is wary of the new environment and sounds. From your description, it doesn't sound unusually stressed. If you can coax him out to test and shoot, it would be better than dragging for sure. What have his bg numbers been like lately? What's his dose now? In general, if he is eating he needs insulin.
