HELP!!

Is he howling in pain? Blood clots usually are very painful.
Is the leg cold? That would suggest lack of blood circulation due to a clot, usually.

Can he stand but the leg wimps out? That would seem more like diabetic neuropathy. Glucose control and methylcobalamin (methyl B-12) will help this.

Any chance he njured himself trying to jump on something? Maybe twisted funny landing? Could be a soft tissue injury - sprain or strain. Treatment is generally activity restriction to prevent further injury. A break, or course, might require splinting, and possibly surgery.

They are keeping Fred at emergency room for fluids and observation. The neurologist says it's not structural and he thinks a neurological exam - possibly with an MRI may reveal the problem. BG s have been good. He's been losing power in his left back leg for a while, I can remember little events over the last week or so, but nothing lasting.

One vet said that she's seen many older cats decline after the loss of their long- time housemate. Lucy, is best friend, died on February 12th.

I'm very worried, but can only wait for the neurologist tomorrow at 9am.

Please pray for sweet Fred!!

Thanks so much!

I'm just so stunned to be blindsided by something unknown after Fred and I have come so far in dealing with diabetes. It just seems so unfair. I'm frightened and worried - and so very angry!! And I miss him tonight.
