Cat has been on insulin for one month started at 1 unit now up to 4 units. I give him his insulin at 8 in the morning at 8 at night I tested this morning at 7 a.m. And is sugar was 264 I just tested now 7 hours later and it's 194. So it's that good? Should I stay at 4 units. His be was 490 a month ago

It's hard to tell without some numbers inbetween. A month is a short time to increase the dose by that much and I am wondering about your relatively high dose.

276 is a very nice preshot. I wonder what the other numbers in the cycle look like. Did he drop low early or is he still going down? I'd get a test in the 8-9 time frame. The reason I am thinking the 194 is not his nadir and he will be lower later or was earlier is that a flat cycle like that is not common for ProZinc ( only 82 points difference 7 hours later?).

If I were you, I would get some more data and make sure he is always in safe ranges.

tested again and the number was 340 I don't get it he did Eat 2 Shrimp and a little bit of Hill's Science Diet MD food which does have a lot of carbs but I ordered young again which is coming next week. I'm going to test in an hour and see what it is

Can we get you started using our grid to record your glucose tests? It will help us give you better feedback. Instructions are here.

Understanding the spreadsheet/grid:

The colored headings at the top are the ranges of glucose values. They are color-coded to clue you in as to meaning.

Each day is 1 row. Each column stores different data for the day.

From left to right, you enter
the Date in the first column
the AMPS (morning pre-shot test) in the 2nd column
the Units given (turquoise column)

Then, there are 11 columns labeled +1 through +11
If you test at +5 (5 hours after the shot), you enter the test number in the +5 column
If you test at +7 (7 hours after the shot), you enter the test number in the +7 column
and so on.

Halfway across the page is the column for PMPS (evening pre-shot)
To the right is another turquoise column for Units given at the evening shot.

There is second set of columns labeled +1 through +11
If you snag a before bed test at +3, you enter the test number in the +3 column.

We separate day and night numbers like that because many cats go lower at night.

It is merely a grid for storing the info; no math required.
