Hello, my Maddie girl's numbers really aren't making any sense. I haven't been using the spreadsheet because I just write it on my calendar each day. Anyways, one day she will be at 150, the next at 350, back down to 150. It's a roller coaster and I don't know what to do at this point. She's eating fancy feast classic chicken, 3 cans a day. The vet suspected pancreatitis but that came back a very low positive. I just don't know what else could be causing these fluctuations. Most days she is around 120-150 but a few times a week we get a reading around 350. I can't afford to keep taking her back to the vet. My vet suggested we take her to a specialist but I really can't afford that right now. She has everyone stumped. I use the alphatrak 2.

Can you post recent, specific BG values? Indicate when, with respect to shot time, they were taken, what dose insulin, when you are feeding if not only at shot time.

she hasn't had any insulin for about two/three weeks. I always check it in the morning. I'm at work so I don't have them now but about 5/7 days it's between 150-175 and then one or twice a week it's anywhere from 250-350. I don't feel comfortable giving her insulin because we've had a few episodes where even if I give her half a unit it drops VERY fast. Since I'm at work all day I worry it'll drop and I won't be home. I'm basically just asking if anything else could be causing the fluctuations.

I can't check midcycles but I only give her a half unit if shes over 250 typically but lately I haven't been because of what happened back on 5/16. She was dropping very quickly. It just makes me nervous because she will randomly do that and I don't want anything to happen to her. I just seriously think there is something else going on and the vet does too. That's why she wants me to go to a specialist in Philly but I can't afford it.

I did a curve but it looked fine. The issue is nothing ever makes sense. She's different everyday so I'm at a loss. You can see the curve on her spreadsheet. I'm just so frustrated and I feel bad for her but I don't want what else to do. All the vets are at a loss and just want me to go to the specialist because they think there is an underlying issue causing her BG spikes.

Sometimes an underlying health problem can cause erratic BGs. My Badger has erratic BGs and has a chronic ear problem due to polyps. Last year I had the polyps surgically removed and now I have stable BG, usually below 130 all day with about 1/4 the previous dose.

Ok thank you! I'm just trying to figure out what could be causing it. They did full bloodwork and everything is perfect. I'm just so confused!
