Help with diabetes and pancreatitis in Fozzy Bear

My cat, Fozzy Bear was diagnosed with diabetes and pancreatitis in Nov. When I initially took him to the vet, he had lost a bunch of weight, was incredibly lethargic, and appeared to be in pain. He was diagnosed with a severe case of pancreatitis. He started receiving insulin for his diabetes in Feb., and i was told during his last visit (april 4) that his blood glucose is regulated! However, my concern is with the pancreatitis. He was last tested for pancreatitis in the beginning of march and his level was 11 (i think >5 suggests pancreatitis).

My confusion is that he currently does not appear to be in pain at all, despite the high numbers on the PHL test. he has been eating normally (even has gained a pound back), not throwing up, incredibly energetic etc. Has anyone had a similiar experience? If so, how did the vet go about treating (or not treating this)?

His next vet appointment with a blood sugar and PHL test is in two weeks. I dont think this vet has a lot of experience with pancreatitis in cats. This is the 3rd vet i am on due to dissatisfaction with his treatment. Any suggestions how i should go about treating this even if he is acting completely "normal"?

Sorry I cannot help with your question but I will bump this up to the top of the posts so that someone can possible respond.
 
Some cats can have ongoing issues with pancreatitis and others like my Conor have flare ups, attacks, that come and go. Generally speaking, most cats (and there are exceptions) will not test pos for pancreatitis if the flare is subsiding/gone. So if your cat doesnt seem to be in pain, is eating well, not having any other symptoms, its likely hes not having issues right now.

Thanks, all. The strange thing is, that the last two times he went to the vet just for a PHL checkup, he tested positive or pancreatitis (the one time being 6.68 and the other time being a little over 11). At the time of both checkups, he was asymptomatic and appeared completely normal/healthy to me. Also, I am a graduate student who is just finishing up my dissertation, so fortunately, I am with him almost all day long, so i really know my cat well.

Are there other diseases that could cause a high PHl level? Or perhaps my Fozzy Bear is just really good at hiding his pain? He is going to the vet tomorrow to get check his blood sugar and pancreas enzymes. Hopefully, he doesnt test positive for pancreatitis. If he does, I am inclined to just have them treat it, despite not showing any symptoms.
 
Pancreatitis is painful and treatment is to give fluids and also pain meds.
Cats are very good at hiding pain. I have one cat who has tested positive on the fPLI test but showed no signs at all.
If your cats tests positive again, you can get the vet to show you how to give fluids and you can treat at home yourself; it will be cheaper for you and less stressful for your cat.
Most definitely get pain meds of some sort for your cat because it is painful.
If you see your cat sitting in a meatloaf type position, being a little 'off' food, licking lips, to mention a few signs, you will be able to treat your cat at home... but talk to your vet about it.
