They only included 10 with my initial purchase, and I've used 3 or 4 already trying to learn how to do this! I'm headed to Target and Walgreens today. What should I be looking for?
Thanks!

Is it an Arkray meter? 'Glucocard maybe"? If so, the strips match those used on a relion confirm or relion micro. The only place that sells those is Walmart.
Relion meters and strips are made by Arkray, but sold only at Walmart under the Relion name brand.

Carl, LDB is asking about lancets, not strips.
Any standard/universal lancets shuld work. The generic ones are less expensive that the name-brand ones.
You want ones with a tip diameter of 25 to 27 gauge. Fine or ultrafine (31 gauge or so) make it harder to get blood.

Darnit....I ended up with an inexpensive box of lancets that are 30 gauge. Now I'm wondering if they are going to be too small. I seem to have had better luck not using the pen, but just poking the lancet in by hand. Do you think I should take those back and try to get something a bit bigger, or will 30 work fine?

Ugh, so much to learn...

Look for boxes labeled "For Alternate Site Testing". Those have the bigger in to prick with and are usually 25-28 gauge.

If you are free-handing and not using the lancet pen, you can buy any lancet you want to.

As you become more proficient with testing, yes, those smaller 30 gauge lancets work fine. For people new to testing, we like to suggest many alternatives to give them an edge in testing.

Yes, I am free-handing instead of the pen. The sound of the pen makes Maui jerk away. But, I'll see if I can find a box of lancets around 26, 27 or 28, and return the 30s.
