Confused and overwhelmed.
It seems like I was giving fur shots often in the last week, possible bounces, or insulin wasn't working. I have been really stressed about the fur shot possibility. It stresses me out if I am not giving the insulin my cat needs. Please see spreadsheet. My insulin isn't expired and I have been using it since June 13. A member mentioned getting a new bottle. I can. I am almost done with this vial (less than one quarter left).
On one day, my cat moved while I was doing the shot so this might have caused a fur shot, but it looked like the shot went in.
On another day, I felt some wet on the fur?? However, I don't usually have a problem giving shots. I could go to vet and have them watch me with "water" shot.
However, I just had a reading with the 1.5 dose with a high preshot of 478. 174 at + 4 hour and 35 minutes with a preshot of 478. I also did a reading at 5 hours 35 minutes at got a BG of 167.
I am almost out of test strips. I have an order to American diabetes that is coming Tuesday, but maybe I can get some from the vet.
I did a little testing on the 1.5 dose the other day. I started with a 343 but I didn't shoot until 45 minutes later so the Bg was probably higher. I then got a 124 at 5 hrs 40 minutes (about see SS) and a Bg of 150 at 6 hours 40 minutes. My vet thought the preshot were high so wanted me to try 1.5 for a week or two.
This morning, I gave the 1.5 dose with a preshot of 337. I gave the insulin about 20 minutes later. I tested after 5 hours 25 minutes and got a BG of 292 and at 6 hours with a BG of 308. Could it be a bounce? The next preshot was 478? I gave the shot in a different spot that the vet tech shaved. There wasn't as much extra skin in this spot, but I didn't feel any wet on the fur and did the shot as I normally would? I make a skin tent and shot at the base of the tent through the skin.
Do my middle numbers look too low since I am using a Alphtrak meter? I am not sure where the nadir is. I am thinking 5 or 6 hours. I am trying to test more but the paw testing sometimes doesn't always draw enough blood the first time (free hand with lancet) and I have to repoke. My cat gets stressed. I ordered a lancet that I am going to experiment with.
