Hi Piri, did you give a shot this AM? If you update your SS and post on Lantus forum, they can help you with future dosing. It may be that Satina will need a reduction. Please let us know how she is when you get home.

Ciao. She is ok. No hypo.
But this morning i skipped she was too low.
My laptop will work tomorrow.
I'll update the SS.
I think food is really relevant for her.
When i give her lily's kitchen food her BG is better.
Do you know other commercial food GOOD for diabetic cats?
Thank you for caring

So glad she's ok! Not sure what food is available where you are. Hope some of our other European members can chime in on that.

Hi Piri,

Glad to hear Satina's OK.

Do you know other commercial food GOOD for diabetic cats?
Here's a link to the UK food list:

Have a look at the varieties offered in the UK by Zooplus because you should be able to order them online from Zooplus in your country. Granatapet Symphonie foods are the best I've tried; the quality is superb and they're some of the least messed-about-with foods I've come across. Note that they contain salmon oil and some cats don't get on with that, but they are very much worth a try to see if Sati will like them. Saoirse's BG levels also did well with Smilla Kitten Food with Chicken and Kattovit Sensitive Chicken (paté consistency). Bozita foods have fairly simple ingredients, too.

Sending scritches for Sati and some :bighug::bighug::bighug: for you.

she is 4 kilos.

thank you

have you tried lily's kitchen?
i think they have no carbo at all?
aren't they better?
please let me know.
ciao

Hi Piri, for dosing advice, you might get more response asking on the Lantus forum. I do know that the Lantus dose should be kept consistent and not changed day to day. The more experienced members can explain why and help you find the right dose for your beautiful girl.

Hi Piri,

Lily's Kitchen foods were an absolute disaster for my cats. The tins were too rich for both my cats (made them really nauseated and gave my civvie diarrhoea), and the trays contain carrageenan which I now know can inflame the digestive tract. I found this out the hard way because when I trialled Saoirse on the trays it triggered a massive pancreatitis flare in her and she became really, really ill. Now that I know about carrageenan I would never feed it to a cat again. (Some researchers use it to induce inflammation in tissues in order to test efficacy of anti-inflammatory drugs. There are also claims that it is a carcinogen but I've not researched them; given that I won't be offering my cats any carrageenan-containing foods there was no point in my doing so.)

Oh no!
It seemed to work for diabethis.
So, which one is good and not dangerous for her health?
I am going crazy.
Thank you

When I had them (2 years ago) the cans didn't contain carrageenan but the foil tray "dinners" did contain it. If you look on the labels it should tell you what's in the current formulation. If you order the food from Zooplus the ingredient lists should be part of the product listings on their website.

There are a lot of other foods that are low carb; don't lose heart, Piri! :bighug:

I am going crazy.
You're not alone there, Piri; I think it goes with the territory! ;)

Give me some name please.
It has carragenean.
In which sense do you mean about the territory?
Because i agree

In which sense do you mean about the territory?
If something "goes with the territory" it means that it's an intrinsic/inseparable part of something else. For example, in this instance getting crazy about stuff automatically goes with looking after a diabetic cat; it's an expected part of the job! (Hope I've explained that OK.)

Give me some name please. It has carragenean.

Here's a link to the Lily's Kitchen wet cat food product range. The ones containing carrageenan are the ORGANIC ones in the little square foil trays. You can double-check the ingredients for all their individual wet cat foods starting from this page:

Glad I could do a little to help you and your beloved girl, Piri. Please give her some fusses from me, and here's a big :bighug: for you.
