Help, low blood sugar

I need some help quick. Vegetables blood sugar is at 3.3 or 59 I'm not sure what to do. It's time for breakfast & insulin so I'm skipping the shot for now. I just gave her a little bit of honey, I had to put some on my finger & then force it in her mouth. I just fed her as I usually would but now what do I do?

Sorry but I'm a little freaked out right now, this is the lowest she has been since being diagnosed last week.
 
I don't think you needed the honey as 59 is a normal number for a non diabetic cat, but that's okay. You did fine.
I would feed her her normal low carb food (if that's what you feed), and skip the shot this morning.
You don't have enought data yet to shoot when tested in the 50s. Only those with lots of data do that.
I would test again in 30 minutes, and depending on that number, again in 30 minutes after that.
You might have to test often today, if she stays below 100.
 
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm still new at this & I guess I panicked a little.

I'll recheck her blood sugar in 30 minutes, she's eating her breakfast now. I feed her primal freeze dried nuggets chicken flavour & some wellness grain free wet food.

How often would you suggest testing every day? I've been trying to test every morning & evening before food & shot plus if I can I test 3-4 hours after each shot. I started in the spreadsheet that I was given the link to but I haven't had time to update it in a couple of days.

If it's 12 hours since the last shot, and Vegetable is on Caninsulin, then it's very unlikely she will drop any more at this point. (She may have dropped lower earlier in the cycle though.)

A normal number 12 hours after a Caninsulin shot is often a good sign. Either the kitty is getting very good duration from the insulin (Caninsulin usually has short duration); or it could be a sign that the pancreas is waking up and starting to produce insulin of it's own....

Yes it's been 12 hours since her last shot. I hope it's her pancrease waking up that would be the best news I've heard in the last few days.

It's been 30 minutes since I first checked her blood sugar so I checked again & this time she's at 4.4 or 77. I'll check again in another 30 minutes.

I'll try & add some info to my signature line. Thanks for the info on how to do that.
 
Vegetable started out at 3.3 or 59 at 7am then 30 minutes later she was at 4.3 or 77 then another so minutes she was 6.1 or 110. I just checked again & she's still at 6.1 or 77. I'm skipping her morning dose of insulin, is it safe to leave her alone today? I have to go see my husband in the hospital but I'm nervous leaning vegetable alone. I'll be gone most of the day but I'll make a point of being home in time for vegetables evening food/insulin/blood sugar check.
 
If no insulin on board, no risk of hypoglycemia. Cats tolerate high glucose for short periods. Unless really high tonight, the dose should be reduced. Otherwise, one more at the current level and then reducing may work out well.
 
One more question. This morning vegetable was at 15.8 (284) so I fed her then gave her a full 1 unit of insulin. At +2.5 I checked her blood sugar and now she's at 7.5 (135). Should I be concerned she's going to get to low since she hasn't reached her peak nadir yet?

That's a big drop, and pretty fast too. A low carb snack may help to slow that down. Are you able to try that and then retest in maybe 20 - 30 minutes?

What kind of snack can I give her that's low carb? Sorry I'm still pretty new at this & im not sure where to find a list of what she can have for snacks.
 
So I just checked vegetables blood sugar again & now at +4 she's at 4.4 (79) & that was with a snack. I think I'll keep a close eye on her & re-check again in an hour & most likely either skip tonight's shot or give just a half dose. Anyone have some reassurance for me I'm doing the right thing?
 
You're doing fine.
Can you test again in an hour?

I'm just not experienced with caninsulin, so don't know if you should start shooting a lower dose morning and night after the 59 you had yesterday.
 
You're doing fine. You're getting data on how Caninsulin works for her and you're intervening to keep from dropping too low.
You may find backing off the dose 0.25 - 0.5 units on the doses will keep her from going too low.
Be sure to feed 30 minutes before shooting, so the food can buffer the drop. Feeding about +2.5-3.5 helps buffer it too.
 
Thanks for the reassurances, today is a bit of an overwhelming day for me. I just checked her sugars again & now she's down to 2.9! She's eating right now, I gave her some wet food (Wellness brand chicken flavour) as well as a few pieces of greenies kitty treats. I'll check her again in about 30 minutes to make sure she's not going any lower.
 
I tested allot today & she's been on the low side all day. I just tested again & shes finally up to 10.8. Earlier she gave me a big scare cause she was at 1.1!!! We were at a friends place & I fed her since I brought her food with me & I put some syrup on her gums cause she was so low. Needless to say no insulin for her tonight.

Tomorrow is a new day & I think I'll start at .25 units for a couple days & see how she does then decide if I should go up or not.

In the morning I will have to see how she is & then decide if she's coming to work with me or not since my husband is in the hospital right now & can't be home with her to keep an eye on her.
 
It is very important to test her before every single shot. With her testing at 20 right at shot time the other day it is even more important. You don't want to give her insulin if she is very very low like that.
I hope you husband is released from the hosptial and is doing well.
