Just got home 40 minutes late for Jakes +6. His BG was 42. I retested and got a 46. I gave him .75oz ff. Should I give him kayro? when should I retest again?
I added a drop to his low carb ff.Yes since BG is under 50. Good guide: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oI_34_EgqeKdpyttFW0oLoG1mbw16IkATAWHhoQD2JU/pub
Very good. Test in another 20-30 minutes. Since he's on Lantus, I'd suggest posting in the Lantus
I actually posted there a few hours ago because I was nervous about having to leave for a few hours and got no response. I get responses quicker here than the Lantus forum and I was worried to wait to long since he was so low.Very good. Test in another 20-30 minutes. Since he's on Lantus, I'd suggest posting in the Lantus forum for guidance.
Sorry. I got scared and My mind went blank and I could not remember his morning numbers to put in subject line. I did that earlier though in the Lantus forum. You're doing fine Terri.....Yes, we want to act when they're in the 40's, but he's still in a safe number
Don't forget that if it's an emergency, you can always use the 911 prefix...once you have someone's attention to help, you can remove it
Retest in 20 minutes and it'll really help to put the numbers you're getting in the subject line so it's easy for us to follow along
What a great tip. Thanks.Just for future reference...It's good to keep some high carb food like Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers around for times like these. A teaspoon or 2 will usually do the trick
Karo, honey and syrup work too, but since they're simple sugars, they also wear off fast, where the gravy in the FF contains a lot of carbs and will usually hold them up a little better. What most of us do is open the can and then use the lid to "squeeze" the gravy part out into a bowl so we're just using the gravy and not the "meat" part so we get the high carb gravy, but don't risk "filling them up" by feeding the meat part too (In case we need them to eat later on)
