Hi Tracey and Midnight. Welcome to FDMB.

Midnight is a very handsome guy.

I also have had four diabetic cats, though none currently. We can help you learn about caring for a diabetic cat. It is not very difficult, though it may sound overwhelming at first. The important things are a low carb/high protein diet, home testing and a good insulin such as Lantus, Levemir, PZI or ProZinc. These work best for cats. The home testing means testing Midnight's glucose levels so you know how well the diet and insulin are working. Don't worry, we can help you learn all of this.

If you have questions after your vet's visit, please ask them. You have a lot of experience on the board and we are here to help you.

Hi Tracey and Midnight and Welcome to the best place you never wanted to be at. We can help you manage Midnight's diabetes and answer any questions you have. After your vet visit, please post in Health and we will get you going. Deep breath, we all know how devastating the diagnosis is but it is manageable and some cats are lucky enough to get off insulin. :)
