Thanks guys. I think i am going to run out and find the Relion Micro. My wife and i have tried close to 20 times throughout the day to get enough for a BG test only succeeded once. I was using the lancet by hand last night to get the tests, i was peircing his ear which is why there was a lot of blood. He had some food last night but doestn seem to be responding to food today, most i got him to eat since the Overnight was a couple bites and 3 treats, I have tried some human food too but will keep trying other things...very frustrating.

Got a new meter and finally got a measurement, it was 187. I cant get him to eat any cat food but we got him to eat approx 3 tablespoons of tunafish. The vet told us to give him his shot if we can get him to eat a meal when it is time. Is this OK if he is at 187 and eating only 3 tablespoons of tunafish? The last thing he ate was 3 small Pounce treats in the AM...at some point overnight he ate about 1/4 a can of cat food, and just licked it this AM.

They advise newbies not to shoot if under 200. I will go to the Lantus Board and ask one of the more experienced members to look at your post and advise. But if you do not hear from them, I would probably hold the shot.

Help should be coming soon. In the meantime, try to relax. I know it has been a frustrating day for you, but believe me you are doing a phenomenal job! It gets a LOT easier with time. The first few days are the hardest, until you can get a picture of how the Lantus is affecting Buddy. That's where the experienced Lantus members of this board can really help you. Seems difficult now, but in a short time, it will all be routine. :)

PS: For yesterday's AM Lantus dose at the vet, you have 1 unit listed with a question mark after it. Why? Is it possible the vet gave 2 units? Looks like they were mixing it up...one morning 1 unit and the next morning 2 units -- but no evening shots at all? Unusual.

Hey guys, thanks for jumping on this so fast and continuing to be so supportive! We are good, I hashed it out on a phone consult just now...huge improvement on the nerves and we are good to go:) Again, i really appreciate the support.
