They want to know if I want to adopt him. Well of course I do - he's already stolen my heart. I was in bed last week with a miserable migraine and he slept at my feet the entire time. Just wish I knew his full history. I'd feel so much better if I knew he had an antibiotic shot or a reason why he started flooding the litter box. Nothing is on shelter file about anything else.
They think he's 3.5 years old. He was neutered in February/early march when he was turned into the shelter as a stray. He must have had a loving family. He's a good natured mellow kitty and goes with the flow. He hasn't had a drop of insulin since I picked him up mid July. He was a zombie at the shelter on 2u humilin twice a day - eating science diet kibble but not a lot.
Would temporary diabetes just happen in a young cat due to stress? Could he have had an infection that he fought off on his own?
Are the odds good that he will remain non insulin dependent? He was eating kibble at the shelter but on 100% low carb wet food here (except for raiding the dog's kibble when I forget to keep his wet food filled up). Or will he most likely eventually be diabetic again? Regardless, I won't be returning him. The only thing that scares me is I will have three cats ages 3 and 4 right now all aging at one time. How will my heart handle it.
All three of them are doing just amazing! They share the same space for the most part. Hef and Henry can get closer before Henry gets a bit uncomfortable. I wish I knew a secret for getting them to actually interact not just accept. But all three are comfortable. Victoria will his if one goes on one of her favourite things. You can see her ears down and then she goes into diva mode.
Here is a video without sound... of Hef taking away the mouse so Victoria can't play with it. He wasn't expecting Henry in the bedroom doorway or he would have taken it in there.
