Yesterday vet said her heart sounded good, but today they said they heard a little gallop and recommended she get seen by internal medicine at some point to see if age related changes or heart disease, and to definitely have cardiology check her if she ever needs fluids during hospitalization. They said the electrocardiogram showed a normal sinus rhythm. They also said to check if kidney disease or just dehydration, since kidney values were higher. Blood pressure was high at 180, I believe.
They did give her fluids yesterday and she was sedated a little for her anal gland procedure, but sounds like none of that nor the gabapentin, mirtazapine, or simplicef could have caused the heart sounds. Thought I'd relay our story to see if anyone has any ideas or experience with these things.
