I'm heidi and my daughter Doodles (roxy) was diagnosed 3 weeks ago and I'm spinning with what do, how to do and when to do it?! Have been keeping a journal and today started home testing
thanks very much to lori and tom for her wonderful advice and help!!!
Doodles is on N and I am wanting to change her to Landis (sp) I understand there have been great results with this.Or PZI, I'm not sure what route to take, I'm leaning more towards the landis.
I have changed her diet, taken away the crack and looking forward to getting her on the right path to being healthy. Doodles has a brother Gotti who is along for the ride ;-) He has not shown any signs yeah :)
I do have a question. Lori and I tested Doodles at 4:15 and she was at 406 +10 and at 5:15 pmps 403 gave her 1u. I am going to test +4, so around 9:15 I will check her again. If she is still high
what should I do? I have never tested before, so I guess I was shooting blind great :( I think that's how you say it :)
I look forward to your help, thanks so much.

Re: new kid on the block :)

hi heidi,
too bad the traffic is slow, but it's almost 9:15 and i wanted to offically welcome you to what we affectionately call "The Vampire Club" do i have to tell you why?????
i must say that doodles (roxy) was incredibly cooperative with you for the bloodletting. you two have a very trusting relationship.
good luck with that +4

Re: new kid on the block :)

so it's been about 4 hours since the last shot right?

you can't shoot again right now that's for sure. how late do you stay up? could you get a test at about 5 or 6 hours after the shot?

Re: new kid on the block :)

Hi Heidi

Welcome. I am not sure I understand what you need -- you already shot insulin, right? You're going to have to sit tight till you can do the next shot in the morning -- you can't shoot again tonight, ok?

I don't know if you've had a chance to peruse our FAQs and general info -- there's a lot to absorb there, it's worth some time when you get a chance.

Keep us posted on your numbers tomorrow, ok?

Re: new kid on the block :)

thanks for the info...no I will not give her a shot until the morning. I just gave her some more food and she seems to be eating I wanted to give some space and not hover :)
I had thought about doing another test...but thought she'd been poked quit a bit since this evening, or does that matter? I feel like I just got over the drama of shots! More me than Doodles,
and now I have numbers! I hate math :( I suck at it, thank god I only have to know too high and too low! Oh yeah and the new lingo...I would do anything for my daughter! thanks again will keep you
posted.

Re: new kid on the block :)

Wow, Heidi! You sound like a calm and confident "newbie" (well, not SO new now, since you are testing and getting the hang of things so fast!), and you are blessed with a sense of humour as well.
Lucky Doodles! Your kitty cat is in very good hands, and you came to the right place!

This is a wonderful Board, full of people who know their stuff, and are kind and funny into the bargain!

Congratulations to you for your great start and for treating your dear "daughter"! You (and she) will be very thankful you did as you see her respond to treatment! :thumbup

Re: new kid on the block :)

I'm going to check out Landis land :) because I want to change her insulin. Again I'm so thankful for all the great
people and especially the kitties! heidi and doodles >"<
