Good Morning all,not a good start to my day! I have just accidentally pushed back 2 units of insulin into a new cartridge of Lantus,I saw a few bubbles at the time, but looked again now and insulin is clear. What do you advise?

Don't worry too much about it. I've done that a few times myself. I may get air bubbles in the cartridge, but so far it's never ruined the efficacy of it (on my fifth pen now and each one has been good to the last drop).

Hi,

I don't use the same insulin as you, but if your cat's numbers remain 'typical' over the next few shots then it would seem that the insulin is still OK...?

(Best wishes from a chilly and foggy Surrey! Brrrr!)

Good morning KPassa & Elizabeth,
Thankyou both for your reassurance, yes it's cold in UK, but we seem to be lucky compared to the weather our friends are having in the US.keep snug, and hope you all have a peaceful weekend. Diane & Bailey

The reason it's not advised to put any insulin back into the vial or pen, is because there is a lubricant in the syringe that can get into the vial. Not likely to have ruined your pen, but just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get cloudy which would indicate the Lantus insulin has gone bad.
